Budget isn’t a Bad Word?

This week, we're diving into the financial side of being hard on yourself! It's all about distinguishing your needs from your wants. Start by reframing the word "budget"—it's not a bad word! Think of it as your personal roadmap, allowing you to intentionally decide where you want your money to go. You’re in control, and that’s empowering!

It's all about creating a plan that aligns with your values and goals. Begin by listing your essential expenses—these are your needs, such as housing, utilities, groceries, and transportation. Then, identify your wants, those non-essential items that bring joy or comfort, like dining out, entertainment, travel, or hobbies.

Next, examine your spending habits. Are your current expenditures reflecting your priorities? If not, consider adjusting your budget to better align with what truly matters to you. This might mean cutting back on certain luxuries to save for a future goal, like a vacation or an emergency fund.

Remember, budgeting is a flexible tool. It's okay to make adjustments as your circumstances and priorities change. By taking control of your finances, you empower yourself to make informed decisions that can lead to financial stability and peace of mind.

Additionally, don't forget to set aside a portion of your income for savings and investments. This will help you build a safety net for unforeseen expenses and work towards long-term financial health. Celebrate small victories along the way and remember that every step towards financial well-being is a step in the right direction.

With that in mind, let’s shift from financial wellness to the more personal and profound aspects of living intentionally. For me, travel is not a luxury but a necessity, and it’s something I’ve learned to incorporate into my life intentionally. Just as budgeting allows you to design your financial future, carving out space for meaningful routines can have an impact on your overall well-being. My trip to Greece was a moment that helped me redefine what “the Art of Living Well” truly means to me. During that trip, one of my journal reflections read, “The art of living well for Becca involves being intentional with her mornings, allowing her to connect with herself and start the day from a place of reflection.” Inspired by this, I’ve successfully woven this practice into my daily routine by dedicating an hour or two each morning to purposeful journaling and reading my devotional books.

While I’ve always valued this time, I used to journal at night before bed—a habit I’d maintained since I was seven. However, after getting married, my evenings naturally shifted to spending quality time with my husband, leaving me searching for a new routine. It took two and a half years to find my groove, but my time in Greece made prioritizing this practice non-negotiable. Some mornings, I even woke before sunrise to watch the dawn from my favorite spot. The soft colors of the morning sky gave the perfect backdrop for reflection, helping me explore my dreams and goals with a sense of clarity and purpose. This morning ritual has not only enriched my personal life but has also deepened my relationships, helping me to approach each day with calmness, intention, and an open heart. I brought this morning routine home with me.

As I continue to cultivate this practice, I am inspired by the wisdom of those I met on my travels who shared their own stories of finding balance and fulfillment. Their insights, combined with my experiences, have taught me that the art of living well is a personal journey, one that evolves with each new chapter of life. I am grateful for the opportunity to grow and learn, to shape a life that truly reflects who I am and what I value most.

Retreats require both financial and time investments, and they can feel like a sacrifice. However, after my experience with Eyia Retreats in Greece (if you decide to join, let them know I referred you!), I learned the value of investing in yourself. Taking a break from the daily chaos allows you to explore aspects of yourself that only a pause can reveal. This insight inspired me to create the Rediscover Your Intentional Self Retreat through Stacked Intent, where we aim to bring our podcast to life, equipping you with the tools, tips, and tricks necessary for truly investing in yourself.

It’s about the journey, not the destination
